Geocache Description:

If the next finder could put a dry log sheet in this would be most appreciated as I don't know when I will next be back at this point.

If you have just climbed Scafell Pike you could just head straight back down or you could go for ‘A Big Finish’ and find this cache on the highest plateau in England. The name is a fairly obvious clue as to which mountain you'll find the cache!

It is one of a series of caches placed on summits or interesting places in the mountains of England, Wales or Scotland during the regular visits that I and other members of West Bromwich Mountaineering Club make to the hills.

To find the cache you’ll have to solve what should be a fairly straightforward little puzzle concerning the heights of various English hills which are all classed as Marilyns or Nuttalls. Or else you could climb 3000 feet using your geocaching instincts and hope that you’ll spot the correct rock!

The clues are:-

High Street in the Eastern Lakes is 8 ‘T’ 8 metres high

Scafell is the ‘a’ th/nd/rd highest peak in England

Arnside Knott is the lowest Marilyn in the Lakes at ‘n’ 2 2 feet above sea level.

The height of Skiddaw is 3 0 ‘g’ 4 feet

The lovely peak equidistant between Atkinson Pike and Gategill Fell Top is 8 ‘e’ 8 metres high.

Black Combe near Barrow-in-Furness is precisely 6 ‘r’ ‘r’ metres in height.

Fairfield is 2 ‘i’ 6 3 feet high when there’s no snow on the ground.

Scafell is wxyz feet high. Add ‘w’ to ‘x’ to find ‘N’.

Yoke's height is listed as 231'E' feet or 70'E' metres

Helvellyn’s height is usually given as pqo metres. ‘S’ = ‘p’ – ‘q’.

The cache is at “BIG APPLE TangeriNES”

Many thanks indeed to alfieo for putting a new log book in place in April 2019 when he found the original one had gone soggy. A great help indeed.
