Geocache Description:

Are you ready to take on one of the most spectacular and famous abseil trips in the Blue Mountains? - The mighty "Boars Head"

Boars Head is a famous landmark in the Blue Mountains, its name coming from the fact that the massive rock protrusion from the cliff looks like a boars head.

There are two ways to do this cache.
1) The intended way - suitable ONLY for those with appropriate abseiling and rock climbing skills.
2) The easy way - A relatively short walk in via the main road.

This virtual cache location is situated on a rock pagoda with some spectacular views. It is part of the exit track for the Boars Head abseil trip.
It's a great spot to take a well earned break after the climb back out of the valley via Devils Hole.
GZ should be simple to find. As you climb out the exit track, GZ is on a pagoda rock platform only meters from th the track. It is an obvious place to stop for a break and some great views. You do have to scramble a few meters up to get to the platform though.

To log the cache, you must take a similar photo as that shown, at GZ, with your GPS. Bonus points are awarded for photos of the abseil trip itself.

Do NOT attempt the abseil trip unless you have the required skills and equipment to complete the trip safely. It is not a trip to be taken lightly. For those with the appropriate skills, trip notes can be found HERE
Some fantastic photos can be found HERE

The Boars Head abseil trip is a combination of abseiling, dry canyoning and caving. There are 5 pitches up to 50m, a traverse through "The Tunnel" (with a 30m drop below your straddled feet!), an awesome abseil between two sheer walls (the Mouth of the Boar) reversing under where you traversed through the tunnel, a spectacular final 50m overhanging abseil overlooking the valley hundreds of meters below, and a walk/scramble up a canyon like gully back to the ridge top where GZ is.
This trip can get very dangerous in high wind - be careful. There is some mud on the exit track, so old shoes (Volleys) are the go.

The easy version of the trip is probably rated 1/3 down an easy to follow unmarked track from the main road. There are steep cliffs about so be careful.
