Geocache Description:

Hidden in the fairly remote SW corner of the island of Barra in the Western Isles, with a moderate length but rough walk in.

Also known as the Barra Penny Cache, this cache contains a supply of pre-decimalisation pennies and a few other small items. Please take only one penny per visitor. The cache is located among superb sea cliffs, and can only be approached on foot from the public road at either Tangusdale or the north end of the causeway to Vatersay. Kayak landing may be possible at the small beach west of the Vatersay causeway, but not at Tangusdale. Well worth approaching over the top of Ben Tangaval for great views in good weather.

Follow your GPS to a ruined sheiling set on the hill above spectacular high sea cliffs, complete with a stack and natural arch. Seabirds abound, especially during the nesting season. The cache is immediately SW of the ruin among some boulders below it, and is hidden under a long rectangular stone. It should be visible and accessible without moving any other stones.
