The cache is located just off
the footpath on the left hand bank of the Hogsmill River, very near
a bench if you need a rest. Depending what time of year you attempt
to do this you will be confronted by brambles on one side, nettles
on the other. Definitely not a shorts job.
The waypoints below are a
couple of Parking areas and entrances to the meadow.
Please note, to get from the north of the park to the south on
foot, at the end of Elmbridge Meadows, you’ll see a low weir, a
wide mown path bears round to the right away from the river course
and then left towards the A3. Follow this and go through the gate
and onto the pavement by the road. Turn immediately right and
continue ahead for 20m crossing Elmbridge Ave. You will see a
subway directly in front of you, go into the subway and cross under
the A3. On leaving the subway, cross over the service road and turn
left along the service road for approx 200m. Ignoring the Scouts
gate, cross over the Hogsmill River, take the next right through a
gate and down onto Long Meadows. If you are doing the walk south to
north just reverse the above instructions. This “urban” section of
the walk is also signposted Hogsmill Valley Walk, Thamesdown Link
and London LOOP.
