Geocache Description:

A straightforward micro, at the less well known of Bicesters two stations

Bicester is unusual for a town of its size, in that it has two railways stations. Although the smaller and (now) less well used of the two, Bicester Town was in fact the first to be built, opening in 1850 as Bicester, owned and operated by Buckinghamshire Railway and called Bicester London Road. Along with many other stations in the UK, and locally on the so-called Varsity Line, this station was closed in 1968 as part of the so-called "Beeching Axe".
The station was reopened in 1987 and renamed Bicester Town, operating regular services into Oxford via Islip. Although passenger numbers were still relatively small, there is talk of re-opening of other parts of the Varsity Line in the future, which will ultimately link this station to Milton Keynes. Popular with shoppers travelling to the nearby retail park, you can expect the area to be busy at weekends, so use stealth when searching for the cache! During 2014/15 a chord line was added linking the Oxford line to the main Birmingham-Marylebone track, and then followingr extensive modernisation work to tie in with providing improved access to the local retail park, the station reopened in October 2015 and was renamed as Bicester Village, which according to a survey mentioned retrospectively by Chiltern Railways was approved by the majority of locals. Please be aware that the car park is no longer free.

You are looking for a standard nano container, it is not on station property by immediately next to the car park. It contains a log only. Once you have signed the log, please replace exactly where found. **WELL DONE DigitalJim ON THE FTF**
