Talahi River Park II Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Pine and Poplar: Cache is missing again. This doesn't appear to be the best location for a cache here, so I will let this one go.

Geocache Description:

This is a replacement cache for the original Talahi River Park cache placed by yoteman back in 2006. When I started caching back in 2008, Talahi River Park was one of the first caches that I found. This replacement cache is placed in honor of yoteman's contributions to geocaching and the many enjoyable hunts his caches have provided. The text from the original cache is listed below. The current container can be considered a small regular or a large small. Either way it it is large enough for swag and trackables.

Located along the banks of the beautiful Mississippi River. You can choose to park at either the Riverside Park parking lot at N45.32.721 W094.08.614 or along the street at N45.32.260 W094.08.310.

If you choose the Riverside Park lot proceed to the southwest corner of the park where there will be a stairway that leads towards the river or a trail that leads through the woods. Both ways will lead you to the cache and perhaps use one on your way in and the other on your way out. The trail along the river is a well worn footpath and the trail through the woods is more of a cleared path. Peace and serenity will be yours no matter which trail you take.

If you choose the on street parking there is a paved trail that leads from the street down towards the river. At the bottom of the hill you will find yourself on a crushed concrete path that makes a complete circle around the river bottom. Here too, you can go either to the right or left. I think distance to the cache is pretty much the same if you go left or right so why not make the loop with a stop at the cache in the middle.

Regardless of where you park you will be able to take in terrific views and abundant chances to view wildlife of many different types including ducks, geese, deer, squirrels and all kinds of other song birds and smaller animals. I enjoyed myself so very much placing this cache and sure hope you will find the same type of enjoyment in finding it.

This is not a quick dash and find. The round trip distance depending where you park somewhere between 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile. I believe it is well worth the walk and am sure you will too. We all need to take a little time to enjoy the great things nature has all around us and this walk will certainly have you doing that.
