Geocache Description:

The Bull Shoals-White River State Park and BsML And Friends invite one and all to a geocaching event for the young, the young at heart, the newbie, the veteran cacher, and everyone in between!  There will be a meet and greet, guest speakers, caching activities, and door prizes.  So come on out and join us March 25th, 2017 at the Bull Shoals-White River State Park for a day of geocaching fun.

We will start off at 8:30 in the morning with a meet ‘n greet, ice breaker session as people arrive. Guest speakers for the day will include Stewert Taylor, Park Interpreter with Bull Shoals-White River State Park, and Ed Normandy, cache owner of the Arkansas’ oldest active cache (Gorilla Stash - GC1B). We will have activities for the newbie cacher including a 101 session. For the veteran cachers we will have some GPSr / Caching themed activities (i.e closest to the coordinate, cache dash, camouflage contest, etc.) There will be children’s activities as well. Lunch will be BYOP (Bring Your Own Picnic) so pack your favorite grub, a blanket, or lawn chairs and fellowship under the trees in the park. The Park has volunteered to provide water for the day. We will wrap up the day with the prizes. There will be door prizes for attendees and game prizes for participants. All pets are welcome as long as they come with a responsible owner, and pets per park regulations must be leashed and under control at all times.

Door Prizes
Each attendee will receive a ticket that will go into the drawing for door prizes of various caching related items.

Geo Games
There will be various caching related games and activities to play. Geo-Bingo - During the meet and greet sessions you will have the opportunity to complete your bingo card while getting to know new caching friends or learn more about old caching comrades. There will be a Geo Word Search and an Geo Acronym challenge sheet as well. By turning in the completed sheets you will receive extra tickets for the door prize drawings. There will also be a GPSr accuracy challenge or “Closest to the Pin” contest. You will be given a set of coordinates and a marker. You then will place your marker where your GPSr zeros out at ground zero. The winner will be the marker closest to the designated pre determined spot.

Trackables
There will be an area set aside for trackables. There will be a space for discoverable only trackables and another for trackables that wish to be traded to help move them along the caching trail.

Caching 101 and Beyond
This session will be geared to the new and/or inexperienced cacher with an introduction to caching and moving into the basics of caching as well as tips and tricks to help add to the caching experience.

Cache Dash
There will be a number of temporary caches hidden throughout the state park’s main area. Your mission will to be to find as many as possible in the shortest time possible while collecting the clue words. You will be given a cache-port booklet with the coordinates and to collect the clue words. The cacher collecting the most clues and in the fastest time will be declared the winner of the cache dash and will receive an autographed copy of “Cached Out” by Russ Atkinson donated by Hotdogs Off Trail.

Camo/Creative/Unique Cache Contest
Get your “Maker Mojo” going and bring your best camo’ed, creative, or unique cache container creation. These caches will be voted on by the attendees with a prize going to each of the three categories.

Permanent Caches
There will numerous new permanent caches published in conjunction with the event.
