Geocache Description:

29 February 2020, 10:30 - 12:30

It's that time again- when we come together for the annual Illawarra/South Coast gathering. This event is now in its 14th year. This year however, we thought we'd combine annual picnic with a crazy calendar event as we celebrate a Leap Year.

There's some crazy things that happen on the 29th February

  • 4 million people in the world are leap day babies
  • Leap day babies are called leapers or leaplings.
  • There is a one in 1,461 chance of being a leap day baby
  • Quite a few famous people were born on February 29th
  • Every year divisible by 4 is a leap year
  • But every year divisible by 100 is NOT a leap year
  • Unless the year is also divisible by 400, then it is still a leap year.
  • There will be 8 years between leap years 2096 and 2104
  • Women often choose this day to propose marriage to men
  • Getting married in a leap year is considered bad luck in Greece
  • Leap Day is the name of a band
  • Leap Year is the name of a movie

Apart from those crazy facts, events are a great way to meet others who share the same passion for Geocaching as you do, if you're a seasoned Geocacher or a newbie, come along and join us for a picnic in the park. Don't be shy, many good friendships and the odd romance have been forged as a result of geocaching. Nobody cares about how many caches you have or haven't found. Its all about meeting others, sharing a caching tale or swapping a travel-bug.

When: Saturday 29th Feb from approx 10.30am till about 12.30pm
