Der cache ist in der Nähe der Kristallhöhle Kobelwald
When the Kobelwald Crystal Cave was discovered in 1682 by a hunter,
it was filled with calcite crystals. They were sold during the next
centuries, and so the cave today contains just a small remains of
crystals and some dripstones. The cave has a small cave river which
runs along the tour path. During the last renovation of the show
cave, a part at the beginning of the cave was flooded with an
artificial dam. It is now crossed on a metal bridge. With the help
of a guide, visitors can discover a fascinating underground world
of crystals, stalagmites and hidden streams. A well-indicated path
and subtle lighting makes it an unforgettable visit.
By car from Oberriet to Kobelwald, then Kobelwies, on a forest road
to Montlinger Schwamm. From the car park a few minutes walk.
By foot from Kobelwald 20min. walk.
Opening: from Eastern to October 31. on Sundays from 11am-5pm and
during the holiday season from July 10 to August 10 every
afternnoon from 12 to 4:30.

number (ABCD) on a plate above the door into the cave-hut.

Als die Kristallhöhle 1682 durch einen Jäger entdeckt wurde, war
sie voll Kalkspat (Kalzit). Dieser wurde dann in den
darauffolgenden Jahrhunderten intensiv abgebaut. Die Höhle liegt in
der Gemeinde Oberriet im St. Galler Rheintal, am Fusse des
Alpsteingebietes. Sie wurde im Frühjahr 1987 umfassend saniert und
mit Hochdruck gereinigt. Dadurch kam ein beinahe unerschöpfter
Reichtum wunderschöner Kristallpartien zum Vorschein. Der Besucher
lässt sich vom Höhlenwart auf einem Rundgang die Unterwelt der
schillernden Kristalle, Tropfsteine und der verschlungenen
Wasserläufe erklären. Die gute Weganlage und Beleuchtung machen den
Besuch dieser Höhle jedesmal zu einem Erlebnis.
Die Kristallhöhle ist von Kobelwald aus in 15 Minuten zu Fuss oder
über Kobelwies mit dem Auto erreichbar.
Geöffnet ist die Höhle von Ostern bis 31. Oktober an Sonntagen und
Feiertagen jeweils von 11.00 bis 17.00 Uhr. Während den
Sommerferien ist die Höhle vom 10. Juli bis 10. August täglich
nachmittags von 12.00 bis 16.30 geöffnet.
