KICKIN' IT !

A 10 Year Geocaching Celebration

Captain's Log, Stardate 81720.07

This evening we received a call for ration support from the Starship Tom_Kat. We were instructed to head towards N 42° 58.010 W 085° 40.317 to assist. After the ration support mission was completed, information was shared with us about a secret item at location nearby. Using a locating device known as an Etrex, we set a course towards N 42° 57.845 W 085° 40.115. This led us to an urban setting which made little sense to us.

We were then provided two clues in the form of haiku:

Does wasabi burn?

Go and take a seat outside and get some fresh air.

Wait, which seat is it?

Perhaps it's facing northwest?

Jimmy John's! Tempting...

From here we searched the area using what has become known as the "Drunken Bee Dance" routine. Of course, had we understood poetry better, we could have narrowed our search down quicker, but in this day and age, the Etrex locating device is only so advanced.  Eventually we can across a small black capsule that seemed out of place. Lo and behold, this was the secret item we were in search of. We cautiously opened the capsule to find an intricately rolled piece of paper located inside. It was then that a cryptic mark of ink was placed on the piece of paper. The paper was then rolled back up, placed into the capsule, and replaced in the location we had discovered it. Thus began our adventures of the intergalactic game of geocaching.

Welcome to 2017, where on August 17th, we will celebrate our 10th Anniversary of geocaching. To celebrate we decided to host an event to get together with fellow geocachers, and enjoy a game of KICKBALL!!!!

We look forward to seeing the many geocachers we have met over the last 10 years, and meeting new geocachers as well. Release your "inner kid" and join us for a game of Kickball featuring "Kids" and "Cachers".

Geocachers of ALL ages are welcome to come out for a fun time.*

Game time is set for 7:00pm

Event will run until 8:00pm
(or longer depending on how the game goes)

Stay tuned to this event page for further developments in regards to any possible contests and prizes. Please log a "Will Attend" and let us know how many are coming so we can plan the event accordingly.

In the event of inclement weather, we will meet at a nearby pavilion for a Flash Mob event, and then work on a reschedule.

* As with any geocaching event we cannot prevent you from logging this event if you do not partake in a particular activity. You are welcome to enjoy this event whether you decide to play kickball or not. It is our hope though that you DO!! If not, then come out and cheer on the players.

See you on the diamond.
