Geocache Description:

A micro container (sorry) hidden in a clearly identifiable feature in California Hill State Forest.

In 2007 three different protected areas were merged into a single unit, the California Hill State Forest. We've wondered for a while what is out here and finally had the opportunity to explore and place some caches. Much of the area shows signs of human intrusion, yet the forest has some beautiful topography and large areas that are unspoiled or at least not recently spoiled.

There are no marked trails in the state forest but there are a number of woods roads/trails that show evidence of prior heavy use. While these do not generally run straight, we found that it was not difficult to find a combination of roads/trails that would take us in the direction we wanted to go.

This cache is a "recycled" micro container roughly the size of a matchstick container put together by Daviddog23. Micro's in the woods are universally hated (we generally agree), but David wanted to use this container in the State Forest and Dad and he finally came to a compromise on a location that would not lead to much searcher angst (we hope). The location is clearly identifiable by from the cache name. It is not a stone wall but the cache name says it all.

You should not need to do any significant stonework to find the cache -- AT MOST you might need to lift one rock from the top. But the cache should be visible without moving any stones. Please do not re-hide the cache so that it is difficult to find or in such a way that other searchers will be tempted to damage the pile. The cache is too small for any swag, coins, or bugs. It contains only the log and two golf pencils -- but BYOP to be on the safe side.

The state forest is heavily used during hunting season. We recommend that you do not attempt to find this cache during deer hunting season.
