Thank you David Hasselhoff! Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

MainePublisher: All geocache placements must have a responsive owner. The cache owner must be able to respond to issues that come up and to submit an "owner maintenance" log to remove the "needs maintenance" icon.

In addition to the "needs maintenance" logs and DNF logs, Goundspeak also uses a Health Score algorithm. https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=713

In this case, Groundspeak has sent an email to the cache owner with no response. The cache owner did not respond to any of the cachers hoping to find the cache and did not respond to the reviewer note so the cache is now archived.

The cache location is now open for any Geocacher to place a new cache, including the original cache owner.

Geocache Description:

Located in Portland's historic Old Port. Parking can be problematic due to the high volume of people who frequent the area, but you should be able to find a spot along the street or in a nearby garage.

The difficulty rating on this cache is based on the muggle factor as there is a tourist attraction very close to the cache site.

Bring your own pen/pencil just in case the golf pencil isn't there.

Poor David! He never got his props for his role in the fall of the Berlin Wall. Oh, it’s true! In 1989, David "Knightrider" Hasselhoff performed at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. According to Hasselhoff, it was his song 'Looking for Freedom' that touched people on both sides of the wall which helped reunite Germany. This is tremendously impressive, as very few of the East Germans could speak English. Sadly, the Berlin Museum at Check-Point Charlie does not display any photos of David Hasselhoff honoring his involvement. Well, we recognize you Mr. Hasselhoff and dedicate this cache to you.

This container is larger than a film canister. A geocoin may fit inside but nothing more. Contains log and golf pencil.

We hope you enjoy this cache and Portland’s Old Port. There are many restaurants and shops to explore. Please check out the Berlin Wall monument located within a stone's throw.

Update #1 - A dumpster has been placed near the cache - so sorry if it is stinky, the spot was much nicer when there wasn't a dumpster there years ago.

Update #2: A couple of points from mostly reading logs of visitors over the years:
- Due to the weather, at times the log can and does get wet. If you can't sign it because it is too wet, we suggest posting a photo of the log or yourself with the wall. Have fun with it :).
- If you visit in winter and there is a big pile of snow at the end of the Demillo's parking lot, you probably can't get to the cache. We've tried to help by temporarily disabling the cache when there are really large storms but over the years, we've been surprised that people have been able to access the cache even when we thought it would be blocked.
