Geocache Description:

Dago Pass Beacon is another cache in a series hidden by Nitro929, Nvh2ofowler and the lazyts team marking the Transcontinental Airmail Route across northern Nevada.

Regular scheduled night service on the Transcontinental Air Mail Route started on July 1,1924. Operating around the clock, Air Mail was able to cross the nation in 34 hours westbound and 29 hours eastbound. High-intensity beacons were established approximately 10 miles apart along the airways.
We did not find any documented history on this beacon site. One map that Nitro929 shared with me depicts two beacons in the area. In the 1960’s I can remember the beacon tower and shed was still visible from the road. There are a few pieces of tin and an eye bolt tie down left at the site.
