Geocache Description:

“You! You are the cachers that I have been seeking!”, the words interrupt your party’s merriment of the moment . Reflexively, your hand moves to the hilt of your sword. You take the final sip of your mead and look up, slightly loosening your grip as you recognize the aged man before you.

“ By Odin! Lower your voice and sit, lest all the tavern hear.” you command.

”The stories are true  his voice falls to a whisper. “The Sol and Mani Runestone exists!  Since Fimbulwinter swept over  the land I  have searched for proof of this ancient tablet. Alas, now that I  know where it is, I no longer have the stamina for such a demanding saga. I trust that you and your  companions will  retrieve the Runestone on my behalf and we will share the wealth and fame.”

”Do you have the scroll?” you ask, doubting his claim.

The old man nods as his hand reaches out and holds what appears to be a weathered parchment.

Smiling,  you conclude “Then we have an agreement, Old man.” …

With the scroll now in your party’s hands, you and your fellow cachers quickly voice your plan:

“Our steeds will need to be tethered at the beginning of the narrow trail
(N 44°24.963 W 080°26.608) offers one of the group.

“But we must begin our quest  after 7 in the forenoon and must return before 7 in the eve or the guild will surely seize our steeds!”, remarks another sharp- witted companion.  All glance at one another approvingly.

“It will be on foot from there on. We will travel towards the rock and after the bridge we will reach a fork in the path.  These grounds are familiar, for  cacher Tromelin and I have gone there many times!” exclaims a member of the group.  “ I recall his story of how Thor’s thunderbolt caused the clefts in the mountain!  The path stained blue shall quickly lead us to the interior.”

Your fingers trace over the rugged landscape on the map; “ We’ll be negotiating  our way up many rocks of all shapes and size.”

A  companion points to a mysterious symbol on the map, “And what is that?”

You grin, “That is Ygdrassil’s large root pointing the way!”

“To Bifröst? ” exclaims another.

“ No, to the cave entrance!”, you laugh.  “ Remember, Mit sinn ok megin!”

And so the adventure begins…

Update Dec. 27, 2011

It appears that the second location for the cache is visited very frequently by non-cachers. The container is now located closer to its original location in Mundilfari's Chamber.

Update July 8, 2010

Due to a cave-in at the original location, the runestone has been relocated one more level down. It's in one of the two dead end spots.
