Geocache Description:

WSQ stands for Wisconsin Spirit Quest. There are many rural cemeteries in Wisconsin. Geocaching is a great way to get out and see some of these remote places, discover some interesting and unique markers, and to help ensure that those that have gone before us are not forgotten.

With cemetery caches, the cache container is not hidden on or connected in any way to any grave site or marker. Occasionally, some information from a marker may be used to obtain final cache coordinates. Please be respectful of the cemetery and anyone visiting it.

This is a cemetery that one member of team gotta run remembers from childhood. Even back then, the cemetery had begun to fall into disrepair, with various stones giving way to the elements.

Unfortunately, time continues to ravage this cemetery. More stones are broken; all the portrait markers that had been on stones are gone; and several of the iron crosses are now stacked against a center marker, having long since rusted off their base.

Hopefully, geocachers will help 'remember' this cemetery, at least a little bit, and that is the purpose of this being a multi-cache.

The posted coordinates will bring you to a central marker surrounded by iron crosses, as pictured. From this marker, head due east about 65 feet to a large shrub. In that shrub at about a 5-foot height you will find the cache, which is a camoflagued matchstick container with a log scroll and pencil.

Yes, you could walk right to the shrub when you get there, but the cemetery is not big, so take an extra few minutes to remember.
