Very, Very Puzzling Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

greenwoodturner: Went to check on this one ... it was where it was supposed to be, but was well hidden by the moss piled on top of it. But ... I'm not really enthused by micros in the woods anymore, so I decided to pick up the container and archive the cache. I suspect that at times of the year the poison oak might get a bit intense here too.

Geocache Description:

Remember those puzzles where you had to slide the pieces around in order to unscramble a picture? That's (conceptually) what you'll need to do in order to solve this puzzle!

The listed coordinates are not the real coordinates; you must first solve a puzzle, in order to determine the final cache coordinates. However, the listed coordinates will lead you to a good parking place, once you are ready to begin hunting for this cache.

The coordinates for this cache are hidden in the puzzle below. My original plan was for this to be an interactive puzzle. I went to all of the trouble to write the JavaScript code to allow you to move the puzzle pieces around by clicking on them; I was really excited by the resulting interactive puzzle. Unfortunately (and I should have realized it), the geocaching website does not allow you to embed JavaScript into your cache description .

As a result of this, you will need to print the puzzle out, and then manually arrange the puzzle pieces. Not quite as snazzy, but it still works. Of course, part of the challenge is also figuring out how to orient each puzzle piece, so that the correct side is facing up.

You are looking for a camo'ed pill bottle, so bring your own pen or pencil. There is lots of tree cover in the area, so use your geosenses!

As always, if you're stuck or you just have questions (preferably about the cache), feel free to email me.

LATE BREAKING NEWS: We do have a copy of the interactive puzzle running on our personal website, so if you'd rather try solving the puzzle as it was originally intended, click here
