Geocache Description:

[ENG] Teutonic Order began to build stronghold in Central Estonia in 1265. The Master of the Order Konrad von Mandern started to build the fortress on the hill by putting up a massive octagonal rampart tower called Tall Hermnann in 1265. A 2-metre thick circular wall surrounded the castle like stronghold. Active cultural life in Paide started in the middle of the 19th century when famous fairs were organized in the town.
Today the cultural life of Paide is also very active. There are many events held in the Rampart Hill, like International Paide Limestone Festival. It`s also very popular place for walking with children.
