A beginner's class for geocachers to be held at 12 noon and again
at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 13, in conjunction with the Gathering
Waters Festival at Lakeshore State Park on Milwaukee's lakefront.
Note: Experienced geocachers are needed as volunteers to explain
geocaching to visitors from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and assist them in
finding geocaches hidden in the park. Please indicate if you will
be available to volunteer and for what time period during the
day.
This event is organized by geocacher kbraband (IowaAdmin) on behalf
of The Wisconsin Geocaching Association. The free “Geocaching 101”
class will be conducted at noon and 3 p.m. conducted by Wis Kid
(Dave Secondino), one of Wisconsin's reviewers for Geocaching.com.
Learn about this fun form of high-tech scavenger hunting and go on
a hunt for hidden geocaches using a handheld GPS navigation
receiver. For experienced geocachers, there will be at least one
new permanent geocache hidden in the park that day so you can get
your smilely. FTF alert: The new cache page will go on line at 10
a.m., June 13.
The Gathering Waters Festival is being presented by the Friends
of Lakeshore State Park as a way to introduce more people to this
new jewel of a park on Milwaukee's lakefront. The festival (and
this geocaching event) will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission to Lakeshore State Park is free. No DNR sticker is
required. Other activities in the park that day will include:

Music: One Drum (interactive drumming, percussion and vocals),

Institute), the Peligos (43 feet, MMSD), Gaylord Nelson (45 feet,
DNR), DNR Boomshocker fish assessment boat (20 feet) and the
Milwaukee Riverkeeper (18 feet, Milwaukee Riverkeeper)
Search and Rescue: Milwaukee Police and Fire Departments and the
Coast Guard
Boat Rides: Pontoons from Performance Yacht
Wellness Area
Parking is available in the parking structure under Discovery
World. Free street parking is also available along Chicago Street.
Note: The listed coordinates are approximate for the event. The WGA
tent will be located somewhere just south of the
footbridge.
