PL: W tym miejscu stoi pomnik upamietniajacy epizod z II wojny swiatowej zwany Warszawskimi Termopilami. Tutaj, w rejonie wsi Placówka i Mlociny, w dniach 19-21 wrzesnia 1939 ciezkie walki prowadzil I batalion 30 Pulku Strzelców Kaniowskich, powstrzymujac natarcie niemieckiej 24 Dywizji Piechoty. W wyniku walk batalion zostal rozbity, poleglo okolo 500 polskich zolnierzy.
W miejscu walk jest teraz huta, a pomnik postawiony w 1979 roku, zostal wykonany ze stali w niej wytopionej. Pomnik przypomina statki z Gwiezdnych Wojen, stad tytul.
EN: Here's the monument, which reminds about episode from II world war, called Warsaw Thermopylae. Here, in the region of villages Placówka and Mlociny 1st Batallion of 30th Kaniów Rifle Regiment was fighting (19-21 september 1939). It stopped German 24th Infantry Division, but was scattered, and 500 Polish soldiers were killed during fights.
Now between Placówka and Mlociny stands steel mill, and the monument founded in 1979 is made from steel produced in it. The cache is named Space Invaders, because monument looks like Star Wars spaceships.
