This cache has been archived.

sixgrands: In retrospect, this probably was not the best place to put a cache so I‘m archiving it. Thanks to all who found it. It was fun while it lasted.

Geocache Description:

Congrats to jackpinesavage4ever, Ben Gates's nemesis and Heeheatthewall for FTF!

This cache is located across the street from a Boone business that has been in existence for over a century, Quinn Machine and Foundry. C.C. Quinn and his father C.J. Quinn founded Quinn Wire and Iron Works in Scranton, Iowa in 1900. Their first major product was a calf weaner and when they purchased a foundry in 1901, chimney and hog waterers were added to the product line. In 1906 the company began working on a machine to make concrete drain tiles. They made other products as well and in 1908 a new washing machine, the “Noiseless Washer” was manufactured.

In 1908 their plant outgrew its location in Scranton and the company moved to its present location in Boone, where it found an “abundance of coal, good water and railroad facilities.” In 1912 they bought Monarch Manufacturing Company adding a much-needed plating department. Over the course of years this company has manufactured numerous and various metal products and today specialize in precast forms, as well as pallets and rings for the production of concrete pipes.
