Vulkanischer Kugeldiabas
Wie entsteht ein Kugeldiabas ?
Die glutflüssige Lava löste sich beim Herabfließen auf den
untermeerischen Vulkanhängen in einzelne Kugeln oder Walzen auf.
Diese dabei entstehenden Kugeln nennt man Kugeldiabase.
Die entstehenden Walzen werden Pillows genannt.
Woher kommen die weißen Linien und Risse ?
Bei der schnellen Abkühlung unter Wasser entstehen bei den Diabaskugeln
und Pillows Spannungsrisse im Gestein, diese Risse wurden später durch
die Natur wieder aufgefüllt, man spricht dann von "verkittet".

Ihr möchtet diesen Earthcache loggen, dann sind folgende Aufgaben zu erfüllen:
Begib dich zu N51° 32.174 / E007° 27.562 dort findest du
den Kugeldiabas (der grösste der Diabasse).
1. Beantworte folgende Fragen:
A. Beschreibe die Oberflächenstruktur des Diabas.
B. In welchem Zeitalter entstanden diese Kugeldiabase in Deutschland ?
C. Was wird in der Gesteinkunde als Diabas bezeichnet ?
D. Messe den maximalen Umfang (horizontal) in cm des größten Diabas ( Maßband verwenden ! ).
E1. Wieviele weitere Dibasse kannst du auf der "Insel-Fläche" erkennen ?
E2. Wie unterscheiden sich diese Diabasse (Struktur/Form) im Vergleich zum großen Diabas ?
F. Wieviele Schraubenlöcher hat die Halterung vor dem Diabas ?
2. Macht ein Logfoto von Euch oder eurem GPS/Handy ZUSAMMEN mit Eurem Meßwerkzeug und einem Zettel mit eurem Cachernamen & Logdatum.
(Wer sein Gesicht nicht zeigen will, ein Körperteil reicht aus.)

Vulcanic ball Diabas
How does a ball Diabas build ?
The molten state broke up the lava running down to the
undersea volcano into individual balls or rollers.
The resulting balls are called ball Diabas.
The resulting rolls are called Pillows.
Where do the white lines and cracks come from ?
By the rapid cooling down under water the balls Diabas and Pillows
become stress cracks in the rock, these cracks were later through
Nature replenished, this is called "cemented".

You want to log this Earthcache, then you must fulfill the following tasks:
Go to N51° 32.174 / E007° 27.562 there you find
the above pictured ball Diabas (the biggest Diabas).
1. Answer the following questions:
A. Describe me the surface structur of this diabase.
B. At what age these Kugeldiabase originated in Germany?
C. What is commonly referred to as diabase rock science?
D. Ascertaining the maximum extent (horizontal) in cm of the biggest diabase (use a tape measure!).
E1. How may other diabase can you find on this "island area" ?
E2. How are these diabase different (structur / form) to the referred big diabase ?
F. How many screw holes has the mount holes in front of the diabas?
2. Add a log picture to your Log.
