Geocache Description:

The residents of Anamosa trust us to protect their lives, property and future. That trust is earned through dedication, commitment and training. Working together, as a team, we will have the courage, strength and knowledge to carry out this challenge.

The Anamosa Fire Department was established in 1857 and is the oldest organization in Jones County. The 32 member department serves under the leadership of Chief Jeff Swisher, an 18 year veteran of the fire service. The Department currently has 5 Firefighter Ones, 7 Firefighter Twos, 4 EMT's and 1 First Responder. The Anamosa Fire Department protects the nearly 6,000 residents of Anamosa, two unincorporated communities of Stone City and Amber, over one hundred square miles of rural farms and residential acreages as well as two large parks, The Wapsipinicon State Park and the Linn County Matsel Park. Chief Swisher and staff serve under two government entities, the City of Anamosa and the Rural Fire board.

Trucks:

The City has a 1994 Freightliner crew cab carrying 1000 gallons of water and 1250 GPM pump and a 2007 Freightliner crew cab carrying 1000 gallons of water and 1250 GPM pump.

The Rural Board has a 1989 Chevy carrying 1000 gallons of water and 750 GPM pump; also a 2008 Kenworth tanker carrying 2500 gallons of water and last a 1980 Chevy brush truck-small attack unit.

The City and Rural Board together have a 2002 Rescue Unit and a ford Explorer Command Vehicle.
