Geocache Description:

The cache is a black metal pill container -- a larger version of a bison tube. As this is a comination WRR/WSQ I'm encouraging you to visit this lovely, old cemetery. You will need to park your car safely along the side of the road and take a stroll into the cemetery.

This cache is part of a series (initiated by BakRdz) intended to
showcase Wisconsin’s Rustic Roads (WRR). The Wisconsin
Legislature established the Rustic Roads program in 1973 to
preserve what remains of Wisconsin's scenic, lightly traveled
roads. For a current listing of Wisconsin Rustic Roads, check out
this web page (visit link)

These caches are usually hidden in the right of way at a spot of
notable beauty with no bushwhacking required. Please be respectful
of private property, protected lands, and the overall history of
the area. Take your time, mind your speed, and most of all…
enjoy your journey along the road less traveled.

R88 travels through a gently rolling countryside of mixed farm fields and woods. In places, large oaks arch over the road. There are several very beautiful barns built close to the road. Near the south end, you'll see a handsome, brick Victorian farmhouse in excellent condition. Along the route you can also see St. John's Church built in 1884, the beautifully-kept Cold Spring Cemetery dating back to the 1840's, and an historical marker commemorating Abraham Lincoln's service in the Blackhawk War.

The WSQ in the title of this cache is an acronym for Wisconsin Spirit Quest. Wisconsin geocachers have adopted this acronym to designate their cemetery caches. As this is classified as a cemetery cache please note it is NOT hidden on any grave marker or site. If there is a service going on, or folks are visiting their loved ones when you arrive please be respectful and come back at a later time. Your understanding and compassion for those folks will be appreciated.

PLEASE FOLLOW ANY POSTED VISITING HOURS, RESPECT THE RESIDENTS HERE, AND ONLY VISIT DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS IF NO HOURS ARE POSTED
