Geocache Description:

The town of Wascott, Wisconsin was established in 1910, covers an area of approximately 142 square miles, approximately 8.2 square miles of which is water.

With well over 150 pristine lakes to fish, swim, and boat, the possibilities for enjoyment & fun are endless; or navigate one of four scenic rivers that flow through our area to get a first-hand look at the wonders of nature.

Welcome to Wascott!!

** Due to muggling activity, this cache has been re-positioned. Note the new coordinates below **

Wascott History: In 1847 The Chippewa signed a treaty giving up all rights to what is now Douglas County. In 1852, The government survey of townships in the county was completed and Superior was selected as the county seat. The town of Wascott came into being around the year 1910. It was named after W. A. (Bill) Scott. Between 1906 and 1908 the Soo Line Railroad came through Wascott, connecting Chicago and Lake Superior. The railroad is long gone, but the beautiful lakes are not. (The old railroad bed is now the Wild River Trail bringing snowmobilers and ATVs into our area.)

Many of our lakes are large and are surrounded by homes and businesses on private property. Many dozens, however, are 40 acres or less and are located on private or public Douglas County Forest Cropland (FCL).

This small series of caches highlight 4 of the smaller lakes/ponds in West Wascott and are located on Douglas County FCL. Enjoy your visit to this beautiful area.

This cache is NOT at the listed coordinates! You must find the other four West Wascott Lakes caches in order to obtain the clues to solve the final coordinates. Inside the containers you'll find the values for A through D below:
N46 10.552 W091 5A.BCD

Inside this cache, the FTF will find a certificate from the "Wascott Tourism and Development Association". Please remove the certificate and take it with you. You've earned it :).

At this (final) site, there may be muggler activity depending on the season and time you visit. You may need to practice stealth.

During deer hunting season, be sure to wear blaze orange as you search for this cache.

While visiting, take some time to travel our many miles of trails by ATV or snowmobile, and through our beautiful forests.

And thanks for visiting West Wascott.
