Geocache Description:

To celebrate 10 years of Geocaching in the Hunter, HAVOC are having a weekend camping trip in the Barrington Tops.

At this stage we plan to camp at Frying Pan Camping Area. This is the site of the oldest cache in the Hunter Region. It will be nearly 10 years to the day that the cache was placed at Frying Pan (GCF1). The mission is to camp at the area and locate the cache. It has been some time since it was found. We have permission from the cache owner to make any necessary repairs to keep this one going.

We will obviously also try and get out to some of the other caches in the area at the time. There are a couple of nearby caches that are in need of some TLC.

Frying Pan
Telegherry Tantalizer
Lookout Dammit!
Geo-geocahce
There is also still a FTF on offer at Ladies Well

At this stage I plan to wait until everybody has arrived by Midday on Saturday. If any day trippers are planning to come out to the camp grounds this would be the time to arrive. We will then try and find the cache at Frying Pan and then can head out in a group to pick up some of the others in the area. If anyone has other plans or suggestions please let me know.

I attended the camp grounds on Friday 26th November 2010. I was surprised that the camp grounds are in far better condition than I thought. The area is quite large and well grassed. There are new toilets that have been built on the Frying Pan side. These are 5 star compared to some of the camp ground toilets that I have seen, the ladies should be pleased.

There are two campgrounds side by side as Damo mentioned. Frying Pan and Coachwood which are separated by Frying Pan Creek. Frying Pan is the large more open area but when I was there I spoke to a 4x4 Club who were setting up for the weekend. They were all over at the Coachwood side as they told me that there was a large swimming hole in the creek that was better accessed from over that side. I am happy for any team arriving on Friday to make an executive decision and set up where ever they feel is best.

Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated.
