Geocache Description:

The Turkish fort, also called a castle, is located on a hill above Koxare. It was built in 1866 and abandoned 30 years later. The fort is visible from the Spili – Rethymnon road north of Koxare.

From the road through Koxare it is about 1,3 kilometers up to the fort. In the southern end of Koxare against Plakias where the road bends around, a small road takes off slightly to the right towards a couple of houses. At the same place a small concreted path also takes off a little more to the right than the road. There are no signs. Follow the road and take right where a small dirt road takes off. This road winds up in big bends all the way up to Kouropa ridge with Telecom. installations (984 m).

When reaching N35 13.165 E24 28.038, there is a gate into the fort area. If you have a car, you must drive a little higher up for parking

The cache is a small Curver box with pencil, logbook and some trading stuff
