Geocache Description:

Should be a quick PnG.

This cache is at the site of the McLean County Poor Farm, which was in existence from 1860 to the early 1930's. The farm cared for those who were down on their luck and had nowhere else to go. In 1879, a pauper's cemetery (potter's field) was established here, to house the remains of those who died at the poor farm, as well as others - some unknown, unclaimed - who were penniless, victims of crime, or abandoned. The cemetery sits directly east of the cache, a green square in the middle of the field, surrounded by a few scrubby trees. The markers here bear no names or dates, only numbers, and most of the graves have no markers at all. More information about the sad history of this site can be found here: (visit link)

When you visit the cache, please spare a moment to reflect on the unfortunate circumstances of the souls who found their final resting place here.
