Congrats to Dingley Trampers for the FTF!
A Green Flag award winning park, East Park has the highest concentration of trees, shrubs, rose beds, herbaceous plants, spring and summer bulbs, bedding, ferns, grasses and bamboos of the Central Parks. It has a wide range of Alpine plants in the 1930’s built rock garden. The planting is typical of the Victorian’s love of plants brought in from all over the empire and beyond. This has been instrumental in the development of public parks across the country.
You will always be able to find something in flower somewhere in the parks on any day of the year.
The Rockery also has two ponds. One filled with ornamental fish, the other managed to encourage wildlife such as newts, frogs and damsel flies.
A circular mosaic created in 2000 marks the historic site of an old fountain. It is now a peaceful place to sit and contemplate or just to sit. The wisteria pergola is always worth walking through but especially in May when the wisteria is in full flower.
