Geocache Description:

Find a historical marker, then give a history lesson

Attention
26 Sept 2002 -- This cache will be permanently archived once the number of logged visits reaches 250. After that time, no more "Found" logs will be accepted. Feel free to use the "Post a Note" option if there is a marker you wish to post.

My circumstances have changed drastically since I posted the cache and I no longer have the time to supervise the cache as it deserves to be. Besides, 250 finds are enough for one cache.

I have enjoyed reading the logs that have been posted from around the world. I hope this cache has introduced geocachers to the local history around them.

Thanks to all who participated.

This is a log anywhere cache. The cache coordinates are bogus.

All along the roads of the United States there are signs that read "Historical Marker." But have you ever stopped to read one? Now you can do it for credit.

Using any available resource, find a historical marker of your choice. Then log it here to enlighten your fellow geocachers.

To claim a find, you must:

  • Give the location of the marker, both coordinates and County/State/(Country?)
  • Post a picture proving you were there (GPS in the picture)
  • Include the title and full text of the marker in your log

There are only 2 rules:

  1. A particular marker may only be claimed once.
  2. You may only log this cache once.
Have fun. I am looking forward to seeing what you find. rdw
