Want to learn how to snowshoe and geocache? Join Heather and Sheri to see how much fun you can have in winter snowshoeing and all year round geocaching. We will explore the Barrens Nature Trail (park in the lot by the observation tower) by snowshoe or hike if there is not enough snow and find some caches on the Ranger Rick Geocache Trail.
Buckhorn State Park is home to the only Ranger Rick geocache trail in Wisconsin. The Ranger Rick series is fun for all ages but is a great introduction to geocaching for beginners. There are many other geocaches also located within the park. If you are new to geocaching or have never tried it, join us to learn more about this activity that we love. If you are an experienced cacher, join us to share your caching stories and to meet some fellow cachers.
The park has limited quantities of snowshoes and gps units to check out for free or you can bring your own. Hot chocolate and treats will be available after the hike at the park office. Meet at the Barrens Trail/Observation Tower parking at 2pm on Saturday, March 2nd. Arrive 15 minutes earlier if checking out snowshoes or gps units.
A daily or annual Wisconsin State Park sticker is required.
