"Earth Day is Everyday."

CITO River Trash Roundup

N37°40.854' W097°20.657'

SATURDAY, APRIL 20th

FROM 9 AM
TO NOON

This is a CACHE IN - TRASH OUT event (CITO event).
This is in conjunction with the Annual City of Wichita Arkansas River Trash Roundup which is part of the “National River Cleanup” initiative. The National River Cleanup is providing the bags for the event. The main check-in point will be in the parking lot of Lawrence Dumont Stadium. What makes it even grander, this particular CITO event is part of the
11th Annual Cache In Trash Out Weekend! Just in time for Earth Day! Those attending CITO Events on April 20 or April 21 (or both!) and logging as "Attended" will earn a 2013 CITO Souvenir for their Geocaching profile. See http://www.geocaching.com/cito for more details about the 11th Annual Cache In Trash Out Weekend.

You may wonder, "Okay, but what do I do?" ...

  1. Before the event:
Grab as many friends as you can.
    Post a "Will Attend" log.
  2. Meet at the posted coordinates at 9 AM for Check-In.
  3. Follow the Check-In instructions. Gloves and bags will be provided.
  4. Pick up a whole bunch of trash.
  5. Return to the Check-In site at NOON.
  6. Log online that you "Attended." (Souvenir!)
Tell your friends to log that they "Attended" too.
  7. Feel good about what you did.

Bring a camera. Take photos. Upload the photos to the event page. As the events progress, we will build a photo collage of geocachers out there CITO'ing away and making a cleaner world.

Cache In Trash Out is an environmental activity intimately tied to geocaching. Whenever you are out looking for geocaches, look around and collect litter along the trails and properly dispose of it. Practice policies of Leave No Trace (LNT.org), the center for outdoor ethics.
