Geocache Description:

Grandmother Mountain is a spectacular place to visit. At 6400 feet, it's the closest place to moscow to get into the sub-alpine zone. The hike to the summit is a moderate 2 miles (4 round-trip), with the option to extend your hike another 2 miles to Grandfather Mountain, where there is another geocache. There's also one by the trailhead.

But geocaching should really be a secondary purpose on this hike. The real gem is the scenery. There are views in all directions as far as the eye can see. In July, the meadows are covered in colorful flowers. In late August and early September, there are more than enough huckleberries to go around. And during the hottest days of summer, the high ridge offers refuge from the heat.

You are looking for an ammo can hidden amongst the rocks near the summit. Access by foot. Please respect the trails, which are not supposed to have motorized traffic. The road to the trailhead is accessible by most cars, though it gets a little rough at the top. Accessibility is good starting in July and ending in October. There are campsites nearby, including one backcountry site by a spring near the turn-off for the summit spur.
