The Wellington Barracks Wherigo Cache

Bury's first ever Wherigo Cache.

This will take you round The Wellington Barracks and give you a little information about the history and show you where one or two of the buildings were situated so you will get an idea of how it was in its hey day.  

The Lancashire Fusiliers had their home here in Bury since around 1875 up until 1961. This interactive Wherigo will show you around parts of the old Barracks and point out where some of the buildings once stood. You will visit the Main Entrance, Parade Ground, Stables, Officers Mess, Ablutions, Hospital, Canteen and the site of The Lutyens Memorial as well as the Memorial garden itself. It is estimated that the Wherigo will take less than one hour to complete. Parking is available on Orpington Drive BL8 2PJ or you can get a bus from Rochdale, Bury or Bolton to the Barracks. The demolition of the area and housing estate that is here now took place in 1969 so please be respectful of the area you will be visiting and keep the good name of geocaching in tact..
