Where to place the first ever geocache on Sakhalin Island? Caitlyn and I agreed it had to be on top of the mountain, Gorny Vozdukh, that overlooks the city and is home to many outdoor pursuits in the city: hiking and biking in the summer, and skiing in the winter. We took the gondola to the top of the mountain and searched for a good spot for about an hour. It was not a great day, we were in the clouds, and we had to hide our intentions from the other people and make sure we were not spied from the gondola. But finally we found its resting place. Not sure it will be accessible when the snow falls, but hope the canister remains water and snow proof!
Caitlyn made the cache herself, and has placed inside some gifts for people to swap, including a loom band bracelet she made especially for it. We are looking forward to checking its progress!
