in our disclaimer.
This Cache is near Greenwood Ice Caves, a locally known, slab cave
system. There are some nice views from the upper ledges. Bring a
flashlight and a sense of adventure. The last part is a scramble
over ledges.
Be careful if you bring young children to the Ice Caves as there
are deep fissures in many places.Bring a flashlight if you want to
explore, it's always cool under the slabs even on the hottest days.
Ice remains into June at times. The road in can be very bad in the
Spring. There is a trail/atv path that leads to the bottom of the
Ice Caves this is the normal approach. The road to the top makes a
sharp right where the trail to the Ice Caves starts. The road is now
blocked but continues up to the old mines at the top of the
mountain. You can still hike the road to the top. Recent logging
around the mines has made for a great view of the surrounding hills
and you can bushwhack .10 mi. down to the cache at at the top of
the ice caves. From there you can continue down the trail and back
to the parking area. The cache is a regular ammo box with items for
all ages.Be careful and enjoy your visit.
