Geocache Description:

Located in the village of Lucerne-in-Maine, on Phillips lake. On an island. Surrounded by very large glacial boulders. Difficult to get there, easy to find (and beautiful!)

To get to this cache, you will need to travel over water. You will need to use a boat, be a very strong swimmer (with a waterproof GPS), or have a seaplane to reach this cache. Unless it's Winter. Then you could just walk to it. Or you could use your supernatural powers...

There is a public boat landing located at 44°41.949N 068°36.156W (or...at the end of Poplar road. Accessible off of Rt. 1A near the Lucerne Inn). You can park your car there and paddle, about half a mile. From there, you're on your own. It's on an island. Follow your nose.

Take a little bit of time to explore the island. It's owned by the village, and is open to the public (you need a permit to camp on it, however) It's a very unique place, with varied flora and geographic features, and isn't very often visited (As is evident from the complete lack of trails). The water is clean, clear and deep (no leeches!), so bring a bathing suit. And, once they're in season, you can pick highbush blueberries all day long!

Make sure you get up on one of the high vantage points and take in the scenery. Take an item, leave an item. A typical random assortment of cache items in a 50cal Ammo Can (army green with GEOCACHE written on the outside). Poke around. There's lots of hiding spots!
