Geocache Description:

Netawaka is a small town in the northern Jackson county. It was founded in 1866 as a stop on the Central Branch of the Union Pacific Railroad. The population peaked in the early 20th century with approximately 360 residents and today averages around 150 people. They are proud of the history of their town. My great-uncle coached several high school basketball teams at Netawka High School that advanced to the state tournament in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The school has long since been consolidated with other small towns in the county into Jackson Heights High School.
Netawaka Cemetery was established around the same time as the town. Even though the town has always been small, there are over 1,600 souls interred in this peaceful cemetery. I have no direct relatives buried here, but I do know many of the names. Please take some time to explore. The cache is a straight forward hide. Thanks for visiting.

As with all cemetery caches:
  • ABSOLUTELY NO NIGHT CACHING
  • REFRAIN FROM SEARCHING IF THERE IS A SERVICE IN PROGRESS
