About Dönerstag. (from the Geocaching blog)
Dönerstag began in 2007 when German cachers met at kebab shops around the country all at the same time. The tradition caught on!
These special events are held each year on a Thursday. In German, this makes the name “Dönerstag” a pun: The German word for Thursday is “Donnerstag.” Kebab translates to “Döner.”
Our Event.
Groundspeak have offered a souvenir for attending an event on Dönerstag 2017. We will meet at Rotary Park, Ulladulla, at 6pm and the event will run until 6:30 at least, probably longer. BYO everything.
The park is within easy walking distance of the centre of Ulladulla where there are takeaway food shops, should you need them. If you want to follow the German tradition you can get a kebab, but maybe we start an Aussie version with pies or fish-and-chips!
Those coming from further afield can park their geomobiles in the nearby car park (see the parking waypoint). Please note that the car park entrance nearest to the highway is exit only. You will need to drive to the parking waypoint for entry to the parking area.
The park has a great kiddies playground, public toilets, BBQ's and drinking water. There is an earthcache nearby as well as several traditional caches if anyone wants to search for these before or after the event.
