Fontanna Neptuna

Każdy mieszkaniec Gdańska na pewno wie, gdzie znajduje się najsłynniejsza gdańska fontanna. Każdy turysta musi sobie zrobić zdjęcie z fontanną Neptuna, stąd w szczycie sezonu wokół niej tłok i ciągły rwetes.

Fontanna w takim kształcie powstała w XVII wieku. Początkowo miała to być zwykła studnia – w końcu na Długim Targu, gdzie mieści się fontanna, handlowano przede wszystkim trzodą chlewną i bydłem.

Dlatego jej twórca - Abraham van den Blocke dostał zlecenie na "studnie rurową"- czyli pipenborn. Koncepcja się jednak zmieniła i kosntruktor wykonał  ze specjalnego, czarno-niebieskiego belgijskiego marmuru czaszę, która jest największym i najbardziej okazałym elementem fontanny Sam posąg Neptuna odlał mistrz Peter Husen w ludwisarni miejskiej Gerta Benningka w latach 1614-1615. Ostateczną formę  figury Neptuna nadał Ottmar Wettner w 1615 roku. Wojny ze Szwecją nie pozwoliły na szybkie  zakończenie prac związanych z ukończeniem fontanny. W tym czasie elementy fontanny przechowywano w Wielkiej Zbrojowni. Udało się to w roku 1633, kiedy Reinhold de Clerk wymurował fundament i 9 października próbnie przepuszczono wodę wewnątrz fontanny.

Co ciekawe, nie zawsze woda płynęła w fontannie. Pomimo istniejących już wodociągów, wodę do fontanny do XVIII wieku zbierano w trakcie deszczu zbiornikach na dachu sąsiednich kamienic. Wodę puszczano okazyjnie aż do podłączenia fontanny do wodociągu miejskiego w połowie XIX wieku.

Nie jest to jedyna rzeźba Neptuna w okolicy Długiego Targu. Inne Neptuny są widoczne ze współrzędnych początkowych i z tych współrzędnych można zrobić zdjęcie. Aby zalogować skrytkę należy dołączyć do wpisu zdjęcie jednego z tych dwóch dodatkowych Neptunów. Zdjęcie powinno pokazywać Ciebie lub Twoją rękę wskazującą fotografowaną rzeźbę.

Neptune Fountain

Every inhabitant of Gdańsk certainly knows where the most famous Gdańsk’s fountain is located.

Every tourist must take a picture of themselves  with the Neptune fountain in the background, hence the crowds around it and constant fuss in the high season.

The fountain in this shape was created in the seventeenth century. Initially it was supposed to be an ordinary well - after all, at Długi Targ [the Long Market], where the fountain is placed, the main trade was in pigs and cattle.

That's why its creator , Abraham van den Blocke, got the order for a "tubular well" or pipenborn. The concept, however, has been changed and the constructor out of the special black-and-blue Belgian marble made a bowl, which is the largest and most impressive element of the fountain. The statue of Neptune was cast by master Peter Husen in the Gert Benningk’s municipal bronze workshop between 1614-1615. The final shape of the Neptune figure was formed by Ottmar Wettner  in 1615. The wars with Sweden did not allow to finish the works related to the completion of the fountain quickly. During that time, the elements of the fountain were stored in the Great Armory. The work  was finalised  in 1633, when Reinhold de Clerk had laid down the foundations and on 9 October the running of the water inside the fountain was tested.

Interestingly, the water in the fountain was not always flowing. Despite the existing water supply system, until the eighteenth century, the water for the fountain was collected during rain in tanks on the roofs of the neighbouring tenement houses. Water in the fountain was run occasionally until the fountain was connected to the municipal water supply system in the mid-19th century.

Task:

This is not the only sculpture of Neptune near Długi Targ. Other Neptunes are visible from the starting co-ordinates and a photo can be taken from these co-ordinates.
