What is art? To one person, an item may have artistic value, but to another, the same item might bring a response of:
WHAT THE . . . ?
The subject of this virtual cache could easily elicit either response. This sculpture is probably the most famous (or infamous) and controversial sculpture in Melbourne.
To "find" this cache, please email me with the answers to the following questions. There is no plaque at the siteyou may have to do some research on the Internet. As usual, please don't post the answers here.
- What is the name of this sculpture?
- Who is the artist?
- Where was it first placed, and in what month and year?
- This sculpture has a nickname, by which it is better known. In fact, most people probably don't know its real name. What is the nickname?
- And to prove that you actually visited the site: How thick, in cm, are the slabs? (Look for a square edgenot one that is chamfered.)
And to the big question: what does it mean? Well, you're going have to figure out for yourself. Feel free to express your opinion in your log, if you wish.
Thanks for visiting. I hope you find the sculpture worth the visit.
