Current Goal

This "Root River" coin wants to travel. It would prefer to travel down trails and paths to various caches, and have it’s picture taken along the way.

Ideally, it would be traveling along rivers after all it is named after the Root River in Minnesota.

Move me to a cache.

About This Item

Root River Trail Wayside Coin

This coin is numbered after King Boreas’ Root River Trail Wayside - GCF78F which was hidden on 4/12/03, and adopted by KB on 8/21/05, and is still active.

This cache happens to be King Boreas’ 772nd hide, which is the name sake of the coin.

For a map of the Root River Trail a look here. Trail Map This particular cache is about midway on the trail between Harmony, MN and Houston, MN. Near the town of Whalan, MN

A bit of history from the RootRiverTrail.org website states that: “With only 63 residents, Whalan has the distinction of being the smallest community on the Root River Trail System. But in this case, less is more. Whalan embraced the trail early on and the village features world famous pie, a world class resort, and an updated city park next to the trail. Whalan is home to the famous Stand Still Parade the third Saturday of May each year, featured on The CBS News with Dan Rather its inaugural year. The village also sponsors the annual "Candle Light Cross Country Ski" in conjunction with the Minnesota D.N.R. Less than five miles from nearby Lanesboro, it’s an easy trip for anyone.”
