To carry on the mission we would just like to see how far it will go before being lost or returns to York.
A half crown was worth one eighth of a pound sterling, (2/6) , a 'Crown' was 5 shillings (5/-).
The first half crown was a Henry VIII minted in Gold in 1526. The last Half Crown was an Elizabeth II issued in 1970 at the time of decimalisation.
GEOrge VI 1937-1952 50% silver Half Crowns were issued until 1946 when the metal was changed to copper-nickel. Shame this coin is two years late to be silver.
Raising the stakes. This coin is destined to 'shine'.
The coin and label was lost around July 2009 and Busy Lissy Bunch were very kind in redoing and affixing the label before sending it off again.
Please now move this TB back to York, UK so we can retrieve and recondition to send out on a new mission.
