Current Goal

Green/Red & Black/White series

Seen the inventiveness of some fellow cachers in finding excuses for not dealing with trackables as should be and agreed to when creating an account here, it was about time to offer a chance, free of all hassles, to snatch a coin without a brain-wrecking, mind-boggling, tedious-exhaustive exercise included (but you are welcome to log a note in case you feel like ranting over a lost trackable).

The owner of this coin is still the fellow indicated at the top of the page (the name following "owner").
You are keeping it = you are stealing it.

During the printing process the background miraculously aquired a shade, which might have affected readability. But nevertheless, I hope you get the message.

About This Item

Red copper front

Just wrote for the umptieth time following mail:

Hi.

I noticed the way you log trackables. I understand that the explanations on geocaching.com can be quite confusing, especially the mix up on the "how-to"-page between 'grab' and 'retrieve'. Please understand that these english terms more or less describe an identical physical activity. However, in the geocaching world they are to be seen as different.

The problem with not logging properly is confusing the whereabouts of a trackable and wrecking its routing. It also supports the loss of trackables.

Maybe this helps.

Standard operations:

"Retrieve" = if you take a trackable out of a cache. The trackable will be listed in your "Trackables Inventory". Check the links in your profile. The trackable will also be listed as "in the hands of your name".

"Drop" = if you place a trackable in a cache. The trackable will disappear from your "Trackables Inventory". It will be listed instead as e.g. "in cache xyz".

Special operations:

"Visit" = if you want to log a trackable to a specific cache without leaving it there. Trackable will stay in your inventory.

"Discover" = if you see a trackable in a cache and do not take it out or you see a trackable in the hands of another cacher. Please include in the log IN WHICH cache or cacher's hands you saw it. This is not listed automatically. Trackable will not change its location.

"Grab" = if you get a trackable from another cacher (personally), then do this immediately. If you find a trackable in a cache where it is not properly logged to, mail the previous holder and ask him to please log the drop properly. If he does not react, please contact the owner and ask for permission for grabbing. If none of them reacts for two weeks or so, grab it. Trackable will appear in your inventory.

"Write Note" = if you want to leave a comment, remark, etc; e.g. "wasn't present in cache". Trackable will not change its location.

Please note: Doing nothing of the above and keeping the trackable for yourself might be considered as stealing by the owner. Remember, even if having the trackable in your possession for a limited time, this will never change the ownership. In case of doubt, check out the trackables homepage for the owner's name.
Please also teach your children accordingly.

Maybe you can also, as a standard, include in your logs this:
Out: ...
In: ...
Discovered: ...

Give description or name of trackable or number from homepage, starting with TB, but NEVER the code engraved on the TB or coin itself.

Thank you for supporting a safe trip for the trackable.

Cheers,

harraps
