Have backpack, will travel
As new geocachers, the girls of Girl Scout Junior Troop #985 of Northern Illinois are so very eager to follow along as this travel bug "hikes" its way around the world, one cache at a time. The girls have learned the three basic rules about geocaching, what to expect on their adventures and in the caches, and some geocaching slang as well! Girl Scouts have long lived by the motto: Be prepared. These girls would like to practice safety at all times and learn how to do this treasure seeking well, but your help will be needed!
1. When this travel bug is picked up, it hopes to be carried from cache to cache in the comforts and safety of a backpack. Like yours!
2. Speaking of backpacks, what items or TOTT would one find inside an experienced geocacher's bag? This travel bug left a bag which also contained the following items: 4 mechanical pencils, Sharpie fine point marker, garbage bag, hand sanitizer, 4 SWAG items, ziplock bag, notebook, first aid kit, flashlight, water bottle, and tissues. Before this travel bug is dropped off again, please log on Geocaching.com about an item or two that, from experience, should be in the Troop's backpack at all times, no matter the difficulty level or terrain level of the next adventure.
Thank you! Many eyes will be looking on and much eagerness will be in their hearts!
Have backpack, will travel
This is a Travel Bug which was given to the girls of Girl Scout Junior Troop #985 of Northern Illinois with the purpose of completing step 5 of the Geocacher badge. Please join them in making the bug go around the world! The travel bug has gained an attachment of a red plastic Mrs. Potato Head purse to represent a hiking backpack that these girls so faithfully carried everywhere they "traveled" at a two-night overnight Girl Scout camping event. It was there when the Troop began geocaching.
