Deze geocoin racet tegen twee andere geocoins (TB71H61 and TB7BETR). Het doel is om als eerste te eindigen in cache GC5R5CN (Pommern in Duitsland).

In Hoofddorp (Nederland) heb ik mijn eerste trail geplaatst met hulp van twee andere cacheteams. Als cadeau heb ik hen een geocoin gegeven. We starten een race tussen de drie geocoins. De geocoins reizen naar plekken die ik tijdens mijn vakantie zal bezoeken/heb bezocht. Eerste missie: Schwanden bei Brienz in Zwitserland. Deze TB is daar als eerste geëindigd. Een weekje later kwam nummer twee daar aan, dus het was een spannende race. Helaas lukte het ons niet om de TB zelf op te halen, omdat de TB's er 8 maanden later aankwamen. Maar doel 1 is bereikt!

Over de geocoin

De Idun-editie heeft bruine parel en transparant groen op antiek goud.

 
Idun is de gouden appel godin van lente en eeuwige jeugd. Ze beschermt altijd overvallers terwijl ze de mand met de Gouden Appels van Onsterfelijkheid draagt. Als de Goden er een beetje voorbij gaan, is één knabbel voldoende om een ​​bron in hun stap te zetten.
 
De voorkant van de medaille is ontworpen naar een traditioneel houten Viking-schild. De houtnerf kwam er perfect uit, je kunt zelfs de nagels zien.
De rand is gemaakt om te lijken op stukken metaal die als schubben zijn geplaatst en aan het schild zijn genageld.
De runen rond de rand aan de achterkant zijn voor jou om te ontcijferen, zoals je ook kunt afleiden uit de tekst in het midden. Die tekst is een vers uit de Hávamál, onderdeel van de Edda, een verzameling Oud-Noorse gedichten uit de Vikingtijd. Om het ontwerp te voltooien is er een Viking / Keltische knoop als achtergrond voor de tekst.

In Hoofddorp (The Netherlands) I placed my first cachetrail with help of two cacheteams. As a present I gave them a geocoin so we could start a race between the three geocoins. The geocoins will travel to places I will (have) visit(ed) during my holiday. First mission: Schwanden bei Brienz in Switzerland. This TB finished first. A week later number two arrived in the cache, so it was a close finish. Unfortunately we couldn't pick it up ourselves, becauses the TB's arrived 8 months later than when we were there. But mission 1 is accomplished.


About the geocoin

The Idun Edition features Brown Pearl and Transparent Green on Antique Gold.

 
Idun is the Golden Apple Goddess of Spring and Eternal Youth. She's always fending off muggers as she carries the basket containing the Golden Apples of Immortality. When the Gods are feeling a bit past it, one nibble is all it takes to put a spring in their step.
 
The front of the coin is designed after a traditional wooden Viking shield. The wood grain came out perfectly, you can even see the nails.
The edge is made to look like pieces of metal placed like scales and nailed to the shield.
The runes around the edge on the back are for you to decipher, as you can also deduce from the text in the middle. That text is a verse from the Hávamál, part of the Edda, a collection of Old Norse poems from the Viking age. To complete the design there is a Viking/Celtic knot as background for the text.
