The goal of this trackable is to keep travelling but occasionally make its way to Carrizo Spring and Canyon, Texas or San Francisco.
The year 2024 marks the 40th anniversary of the first team to win 15 games in the NFL regular season and one of the best teams in NFL history. I thought that I would do a collection honoring those players (9 as of this writing) that are no longer with us.
This trackable is dedicated to the second player of the 1984 Super Bowl Champion San Francisco 49ers to pass away – John Ayers in 1995.
John was described by 49ers legendary offensive line coach Bobb McKittrick as the the kind of person who would not only help to stop a motorist on the side of the road, he would give the stranger the keys to his car.
As a 49er guard, he was known as the best pass blocker on a team known for it’s passing. He was an unsung hero for much of the 49ers first two Super Bowl winning teams – frequently neutralizing the opposition’s best players.
After football, he owned and operated a commercial welding business in Canyon, Texas.
John died of liver cancer tragically at the age of 42.
The goal of this trackable is to keep travelling but occasionally make its way to Carrizo Spring and Canyon, Texas or San Francisco.
If someone from the Canyon, Texas area remembers him, please feel free to share their stories.
