The Via Domitia was the first Roman road built in Gaul, to link Italy and Hispania through Gallia Narbonensis, across what is now Southern France. The route that the Romans regularised and paved was ancient when they set out to survey it, and traces the mythic route travelled by Heracles.[1]

The Pont des Marchands (English: Merchants' Bridge) is a historic bridge in Narbonne, southern France. It serves as a foundation for a row of houses and shops underneath which the Canal de la Robine runs through the old town. Its segmental arch has a span of ca. 15 m.[1] In Roman times the structure featured as many as six arches.

On the move again. Visited cache on Sep 19, 2025.

The capture of the Bastille, which took place on Tuesday, July 14, 1789, in Paris, is one of the inaugural and emblematic events of the French Revolution. The joke is somewhat lost in translation. "Prise" in French means capture/hold, but it is also the name for an electric outlet. I'm sure there is a reason for it being the same word, then maybe not. Merci to dramoel for his/her explanation: (about the word "prise" it has a lot of different meaning. "The action of grabbing", "place where you grab"... Prise électrique is literally "where you grab electricity". :)) WOW, where you grab electricity. BOY that must hurt!

This cache is located near the Place Henri Frenay, in the former « îlot Chalon » district (Chalon islet).

The îlot Chalon was a district near the Gare de Lyon, bounded by the rue de Chalon, the avenue Daumesnil, the boulevard Diderot and the rue de Rambouillet. Built in the mid-19th century at the same time as the Gare de Lyon, the district was initially made up of workers' housing, warehouses and workshops. Considered unsanitary just 50 years after its construction, the various owners failed to carry out any rehabilitation work.

In the 1970s, the site became notorious for its insalubrious condition. The occupation of disused buildings and the use of hard drugs became a media issue.

In 1984, the public authorities made a commitment to rehabilitate the district: several police operations were organised to arrest illegal immigrants, drug suppliers and users. At the same time, the first buildings were demolished.

The history of this district illustrates a radical gentrification method based on destruction and reconstruction. The precarious population was moved to more distant and less visible parts of the city, as was the drug trade.

A few buildings dating from the construction of the district remain, at the junction of Passage Raguinot and Avenue Dausmenil for example.

For french readers, more information on the district availaible here:

Nearby visited a church.

King's Sutton is a village and civil parish in South Northamptonshire, England in the valley of the River Cherwell. The village is about 4 miles (6.4 km) south-east of Banbury, Oxfordshire.
The oldest parts of the Church of England parish church of Saints Peter and Paul are the Norman font and largely Norman chancel. The north aisle was added in the 13th century and the south aisle early in the 14th century. The bell tower and most of the windows are Decorated Gothic. The spire was added to the tower probably late in the 14th century, raising the steeple to a height of 198 feet (60 m). Sir Nikolaus Pevsner considered it "one of the finest, if not the finest, spire in this county of spires". The south porch, north aisle, west window and very fine east window of the chancel are Perpendicular Gothic.
