GREAT JOB, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED by teamghostbuster on 10/13/23!
Feel free to now move around the rest of the world and take pictures along the way!
~~~
The current previous goal of this Trackable is to arrive at "The Winter Dance Party" in Moorhead Minnesota, which is the concert destination Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper failed to reach the night they perished on February 3, 1959.
The site of the missed gig was at The National Guard Armory located in the 200 block of 5th St. S in Moorhead, MN. While the original Armory was demolished in 1990, there is a nearby Letterbox Cache GC591E0 "Ares: God of War" which is the closest geo-location to where the concert was scheduled to occur. Bring the TB here, snap a photo, and enjoy a slice of American Pie.
Please take as many photos along the way if you can to document its travels. (Feel free to take the "scenic route" along the journey.) Bonus points if you stop along the way at the Virtual Caches at the Surf Ballroom in Cedar Lake, Iowa (GC8519) or The Holly Shrine (GC6780). As my geo-friend Shaun would say, "Keep on Caching"!
My daughter and I discovered this brand new Travel Bug in Morrisville North Carolina at the final stage of a five-part series themed around "The Day the Music Died". I enjoyed sharing the story of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens & The Big Bopper with her as we completed the series. The final stage was Letterbox cache based on Don McLean's song "American Pie", adding another layer of nostaglia in America's music history.
