The mission (or doom) of The Flying Dutchman is to travel the world seas forever! Help it in its quest to travel the 6 continents over and over again.
The Flying Dutchman is a fictional ghost ship that, according to tradition, sails around the Cape of Good Hope area forever. The captain is also sometimes called The Flying Dutchman.
One version of the legend has it that the Dutch captain, Willem van der Decken, insisted on Easter morning, despite the bad weather conditions and against the wishes of his wife, to leave the harbor with his VOC ship on his way to the East Indies. After all, it was a power struggle to sail to Batavia as quickly as possible and the captain had no time to lose. Weather or no weather, Easter or no Easter. After a long journey, the ship reached the Cape of Good Hope. The captain tried to pass the point of land, to which the crew protested. They begged him to return to Table Bay. The captain refused and became so angry that he threw the mate overboard, exclaiming, "God or the devil ... I will round the Cape, though I must sail to the last judgment." As punishment, the ship fell into the power of the devil. The captain must sail forever on the sea. The dead crew goes about their duties silently. Sometimes The Flying Dutchman sends a sloop to passing unfortunates, asking them to take a pile of letters with them to relatives who turned out to have died centuries ago. According to traditions of people who would have seen The Flying Dutchman, the ship with blood-red sails sails against the wind above the water.
