Current Goal

Take Homer to Springfield! Any springfield will do, as long as he has not yet been there. The goal is to get Homer to as many Springfields in the US (and the world?) as possible. Other than that, just keep him on the move.

We love Homer!! There aren't any Springfields around here, but we'll put him on the road north, maybe he'll make it to Springfield, OR.!

Retired last Friday (7/18) from the nuclear industry and promptly bought a Colorado 400t with my retirement gift certificate. For my first cache I noticed this brand new cache off of HWY 58 in an area that I really like. This was a great set-up; first cache ever, FTF, and a great drive to an area I enjoy. Found it with a little effort, great location for a nubie, TFTC. I took the Homer Jay travel bug, I will send him on his way to Springfield with a little scare along the way(see photo).

Unfortunately, there are no Springfields in California, but there is a Springville, a little east of Porterville, near Sequoia National Park. And the city we live in used to be called Springville, a century ago. There's a park with that name just a couple of miles away, so we'll take Homer there and post a photo of him at the sign for it 🙂 Then we'll see if we can get him a little closer to that other Springville. Which will work, as it'll get him a little closer to Oregon, which has a Springfield, right next to Eugene 😁

P.S. We put Homer in a new ZipLok and added an info sheet, so folks will know what his goal is.

  • Homer at Springville Park in Camarillo This is a small community park with a grassy field and not much else. There is no cache here currently, although there have been two of them in the past. This is as close to a Springfield as we get around here.
  • Homer thinks about taking a dip :-o Springville Park has a small man-made waterfall, and a small donors' wall of bricks. Homer is on top of the bricks; I had to dissuade him from jumping into the pool at the bottom of the "fall", as it had just been treated for algae. Both the waterfall and brick wall are awaiting approval as Waymarks, in their respective categories.
